We use our Veenhuis 18-ton silage trailer about 800 hours a year per trailer. They are a very stable trailer with a good weight distribution from tractor to trailer.

Running Gear

Through years of research and testing, Veenhuis has determined aligning the main pivot and axles on the same horizontal axis provides the right balance of traction, stability and ease of overcoming obstacles.

Inline Pivot and Axles

By offsetting the walking beam’s main pivot four percent behind centre, the axle’s front half is slightly longer and carries less weight. This reduces the pulling power required by allowing the front wheel to lift and ride on top of soft, muddy fields and reduces the jarring shock of bumps.

Frame Features

A . Full Height Cross Beams

Strengthening the boxed frame are welded cross beams that are the full height of the frame giving you more structural steel to support the weight capacity.

B . Torsion Tube (Exclusive)

Integrated into the rear of the frame running up to the lifting hoist is a cylindrical tube welded in place preventing torsional twisting which is critical during the first 60-65 degrees of dumping.

C. Dual-Axis Lift Hoist

By allowing the lifting hoist to pivot in four directions, the cylinder ram is able to always lift in a straight line, preventing bending and/or binding of the lift cylinder.

D. Vulcanized Rubber Mounted Suspension Drawbar

Reduce “bouncing wave” and create smooth travel using maintenance-free polymer isolators and deep-set hinge that absorb the fluctuations instead of transferring between tractor and trailer.

E. Long Tongue

Measuring 60cm (23.6”) longer than the standard tongue, the extra length of the Veenhuis tongue gives greater clearance between the tractor’s rear wheels and the trailer’s dump body when turning corners.

F. Machined Rotating Safety Hitch

Machined in one piece from high-quality steel and designed for heavy towing and safety, the Veenhuis Rotating Safety Hitch takes the stress out of the pin and drawbar in the event of a trailer roll-over, reducing the risk of a tractor roll-over.

G. NA Coupling Eye

Available for either 1.5” or 2” draw pin. (Interchangeable)

H. Polymer Vibration Isolators

Reducing vibration of steel-on-steel friction between the frame and dump body are rubber pads installed along the rails.

Designed for strength under pressure, the unique corrugated sidewall design and boxed corners create a structure that can support incredible weight and stays stable when dumping.

Single Sheet Sidewalls

Made from a single sheet of steel, the sidewalls are smooth and seamless for easy material flow and reduced wear points.

Tapered Sidewalls

Since the rear width is wider than the front wall, material naturally releases with minimal side friction, creating a predictable and fast dump cycle, every time.

High Clearance Tailgate

Even when the trailer is mounded high, the deep pivot placement lifts the tailgate out of the way during dumping.

Mechanical Auto-Locking Tailgate

Providing load safety and assurance during road travel, the tailgate automatically locks in the closed position using a gravity latch that requires hydraulic pressure to open.
